5 Ways to Support The Great House (Beyond Financial Gifts)
Not everyone can give financially, but everyone can contribute. Discover five meaningful ways to support our mission without writing a check.
You don’t need to be wealthy to make a meaningful difference. At The Great House Fundraising, we believe every person has something valuable to contribute. Here are five powerful ways to support our mission without a financial donation.
1. Volunteer Your Time & Skills
Your time is valuable—literally. We calculate volunteer hours at $25 per hour, meaning:
- 4 hours/month = $1,200/year in donated services
- 10 hours/month = $3,000/year in donated services
How to volunteer:
- Tutoring & Mentoring: Help students succeed academically. No teaching experience necessary—just patience and encouragement.
- Food Bank Support: Sort, pack, and distribute food to families in need.
- Administrative Help: Use office skills to support our team.
- Professional Services: Offer pro-bono accounting, legal advice, job coaching, or graphic design.
- Event Coordination: Help plan and execute fundraising events and community programs.
2. Advocate & Amplify Our Message
You have a voice and network. Use them:
- Share on Social Media: Repost our impact stories and testimonies. Your network trusts you—your endorsement matters.
- Word of Mouth: Tell friends, family, and colleagues about our work. Personal recommendations are powerful.
- Attend Events: Show up to our fundraisers and community events. Your presence shows support and builds community.
- Write Testimonies: If you’ve experienced our programs, share your story. Authentic testimonies inspire others.
3. Donate In-Kind Gifts
Sometimes non-monetary donations are exactly what we need:
- School Supplies: Notebooks, pencils, backpacks for students
- Clothing: Gently used coats, winter clothing, professional attire
- Food: Non-perishables for our foodbank
- Furniture: Beds, tables, chairs for families rebuilding
- Professional Services: Free consultations from your business (accounting, legal, medical, etc.)

4. Pray & Intercede
Prayer is not passive—it’s powerful action. When you pray for our work:
- You invite God’s guidance and blessing on our initiatives
- You strengthen our team spiritually
- You partner in transformation with spiritual authority
- You contribute to lasting change
Monthly Prayer Focus:
- Weeks 1-2: Education programs and student success
- Weeks 3-4: Community care and family stability
- Week 5+: International missions and global impact
Sign up for our monthly prayer letter to receive focused prayer requests and testimonies of answered prayers.
5. Leverage Your Professional Network & Workplace
You may not realize it, but your employer and professional connections are valuable resources:
Workplace Giving Programs:
- Many employers match employee donations (FREE money for us!)
- Some offer Matching Gift programs where your $50 becomes $100
- Ask your HR department if they participate
Professional Networking:
- Connect us with business partners who might partner with us
- Recommend us for grants or corporate giving programs
- Introduce us to decision-makers in your industry
Workplace Volunteering:
- Many companies offer “volunteer days” where employees work for nonprofits
- Organize a group from your workplace to volunteer with us
- Create a workplace giving campaign to support our work
The Multiplier Effect
When you contribute in non-financial ways, you:
- Stretch our dollars further (money saved on volunteer labor goes to programs)
- Build community (volunteers become ambassadors and advocates)
- Create sustainable impact (consistent volunteers maintain program quality)
- Show faith (your actions demonstrate belief in our mission)
Real Impact Stories
Mark’s Story: A retired accountant volunteered 8 hours/month doing our financial recordkeeping. His work alone saved us $500/month—$6,000 annually! That’s enough to feed 60 families per month.
Sarah’s Story: She couldn’t give financially, but she mentored a student for one year. Today, that student is in college studying engineering, and she mentors two other students. Sarah’s investment multiplied.
The Johnson Family’s Story: After receiving assistance from us, they began donating their time. Now they volunteer 20 hours/month combined, and they’ve recruited 10 other volunteers from their church. One family created a movement.
